The Dark Side of Modern America 3f

The Bush administration, embarrassed by its having allowed Bin Laden to escape, came up with the preposterous excuse that they didn’t pursue Bin Laden at Tora Bora because they wanted to minimize American casualties and they also wanted to prevent the war in Afghanistan from being viewed by the world as an “American war.” But weren’t Americans the only victims of 9/11?

The Dark Side of Modern America 3g

Instead, we should let the Afghan warlords and Pakistani military (mostly Muslims, who at least religiously and culturally were not antagonistic to Bin Laden), whose people were not murdered by Bin Laden, go after him. Yet the outrageous Bush were willing to send 150,000 American soldiers to risk their lives in Iraq to get Saddam Hussein, who we know was as innocent of complicity in 9/11 as a newborn baby.

The Dark Side of Modern America

Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11

The Collapse of the World Trade Center (WTC) Buildings (a)

The North Tower (WTC-1) was struck at 8:46 AM. It collapsed one hour and 42 minutes later, at 10:28. The South Tower (WTC-2) was struck at 9:03 AM. It collapsed 56 minutes later, at 9:59. Building Number 7 (WTC-7), which was two blocks away and was not struck, collapsed at 5:20 PM. These facts immediately suggest two questions: Why did the South Tower, which was struck 17 minutes later than the North Tower, nevertheless collapse 29 minutes earlier? And why did WTC-7 collapsed at all, given the fact that it was not struck?

The Dark Side of Modern America

The Collapse of the WTC Buildings (b)

The Twin Towers: According one account that became widely circulated shortly after 9/11 by being articulated on a NOVA program, the North and South Towers were caused to collapse when the heat of the fires, fed by the jet fuel, melted the buildings’ steel columns. It is now universally agreed, however, that the fires would not have been nearly hot enough.

The Dark Side of Modern America

The Collapse of the WTC Buildings (c)

To melt steel, one needs a temperature in the range of 2,770 °F (1,500°C), which can be produced only by some special device, such as an oxyacetyline torch. A hydrocarbon fire, such as one based on refined kerosene—which is what jet fuel is—does not get nearly that hot. As explained by Thomas Eagar, professor of materials engineering and engineering systems at MIT, the maximum possible temperature for an open fire fueled by hydrocarbons would be 1,600 to 1,700 °F. Moreover, since the WTC fires were fuel-rich fires, as evidenced by the fact that they gave off much black smoke, they were not even very hot for hydrocarbon fires, “probably only 1,200 to 1,300°F.”
- Professor David Ray Griffin

Could the Airplane Impacts Explain the Collapses?

People advocating the official account usually say that it was not just the fires, but the fires combined with the impacts of the airplanes. But the more than 2,500 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, some of whom are leading members of their fields, hold that this would be impossible.

Why Did the South Tower Collapse First?

Another problem is the order in which the towers collapsed. If they had been brought down ( = made to fall) by the heat of their fires, the North Tower (WTC 1) should have collapsed first: It was struck seventeen minutes earlier than the South Tower (WTC 2), and it had larger and hotter fires, and yet the South Tower collapsed 29 minutes earlier than the North Tower.

Total Collapse in Ten Seconds

Still another serious problem for the 9/11 Commission's view involves the time it took for the Twin Towers to come down. On the one hand, the Commission said that, to its knowledge, "none of the [fire] chiefs present believed that a total collapse of either tower was possible." On the other hand, the Commission said that the "South Tower collapsed in 10 seconds." To go from an evidently impossible collapse to one that occurred in 10 seconds: This would definitely be a miracle--unless, of course, explosives had been used to remove the 287 steel columns.

The Miraculous Destruction of the Twin Towers

NIST on the Twin Towers (a)

To some extent, it is not surprising that the 9/11 Commission's treatment of the destruction of the Twin Towers was so terrible, because not a single one of the people chosen to be commissioners was a scientist. The task of developing an adequate explanation of the destruction of the Twin Towers was given to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The Miraculous Destruction of the Twin Towers

NIST on the Twin Towers (b)

NIST did claim to be independent ... However, far from being a neutral, independent organization, NIST is an agency of the US Department of Commerce. While NIST was writing its report, therefore, it was an agency of the Bush-Cheney administration. The name of Carlos Gutierrez, Bush's secretary of commerce, was on the first page of NIST's Final Report, and all of NIST's directors were Bush appointees.
